Branch President: Emeritus Professor Raymond Warren
Registered Charity No. 282751 and SC038422

Introduction

The Branch now meets in Room 3 of the Coniston Community Centre, The Parade, Coniston Road, Patchway, BS34 5LP. This venue has the advantange of free parking, a large well-ventilated and well-illuminated room with kitchenette facilities. It is located on the first floor of the Centre up a flight of stairs, but for those with large instruments or requiring wheel chair access there is a lift and there is a toilet close to the playing room.

Coniston Community Centre is on the 75 bus route which runs approx. every 15 minutes even on a Saturday afternoon. Access by car is probably easiest from Cribbs Causeway (exit 17 on M5) or using the A4018 from the centre of Bristol. Follow the signs to Patchway. Straight over at all the roundabouts and then left at the traffic lights where you have no option but to turn left. This is Coniston Road. Beware of traffic-calming humps. The Centre is on the left after half a mile. The most obvious sign post is to the Cafe located at the Centre.

Currently a section of Coniston Road is closed just by the entrance to the Community Centre and it will be closed for several months. Those approaching from the Cribbs Causway/Mall side will be unaffected, but those coming from the Filton direction will need to follow the diversion signs.

Meetings run from 2:00 - 5:00pm with a break for tea. Visitors are always welcome. Music is provided, but please bring a music stand.

Rachel Mason is running a group for less experience players called Stoke Gifford Recorder Players which meets regularly on Monday mornings in term-time in St Michael's Church Centre, Stoke Gifford (adjacent to Bristol Parkway Station). The group plays solo, consort and ensemble music as well as preparing music for SRP meetings and occasional performances in the local community. Currently the group is at maximum capacity but if you would like more information or to be put on the waiting list please contact Rachel at rachel.mason@gmx.com.

The Branch also runs an Ensemble Section under the name of the Blockflute Band which prepares works for public performance. Click here for more information.
