Bristol Branch Ensemble Section Bristol Branch Ensemble SectionThe Blockflute Band, provides an opportunity for members to perform in concerts and to give wider public exposure of the recorder and raise funds for charity.
Our most recent concert was on Friday 21st October at the Ark, Cotham Road South in aid of the Henleaze Branch of the of the National Association of Child Care Centres. The programme included Byrd Fantasia a 4, Sanz Spanish Airs and Dances, Elgar Harmony Music, Gussago 2 Sonatas (2 choir) and Pergolesi Four Dances. The concert was given jointly with the Bristowe Consort. The event raised over £300 for Bristol CCC. For a full programme please click here.
Our next concert will be on Friday, 16th March 2012 at 7.30pm in Cotham Parish Church. It will be held in memory of Margaret Somorset and in aid of the charity BRACE (research into Alzheimer's Disease). Weekly rehearsals will start on 2nd February in Room 1 of the Methodist Church Hall, 4 Northview, Westbury Park at 7.30pm. You must be able to attend the rehearsal on 15th March and five of the other six rehearsals. The main works will be Warlock's Capriol Suite, Alan Bullock's North Sea Sketches, Schmelzer's Sonata a 7 and two choir works by Taeggio and Gabrieli.
